LADIES MORNING OUT

Sweet Magnolia believes that JOY is Resistance.

This gathering was more than fellowship and celebration; it was a declaration that our culture, our stories, and the brilliance of Black women still deserve to be honored, protected, and invested in.

This is the work of freeing ourselves.

The Women’s Ministry of Magnolia Missionary Baptist Church extends heartfelt gratitude to every person who attended, supported, volunteered for, and prayed over Ladies Morning Out: The Singing Hat Event. Rooted in our 2026 congregational theme, #Rooted2Rise, this gathering became far more than a social event. It became a celebration of legacy, survival, joy, and the enduring spiritual witness of Black women.

For generations, the Black Church hat has represented more than fashion. It has served as testimony. It has carried memory, dignity, and sacred affirmation. Long before society recognized the humanity, brilliance, or contributions of Black women, Black women affirmed themselves. They walked into sanctuaries clothed in strength, wisdom, grace, and resilience. Every carefully chosen hat, every vibrant color, every feather, every ribbon, and every song carried a story.

The Singing Hat Event honored that history.

Throughout the morning, women gathered in fellowship and laughter while celebrating a tradition deeply rooted in the Black Church experience. The room reflected elegance, creativity, and joy, but beneath the beauty rested something even deeper: a living testimony of survival and hope. Each woman present represented generations of mothers, grandmothers, aunties, teachers, caregivers, organizers, prayer warriors, and community builders who have sustained both church and community through seasons of struggle and triumph.

The event reminded us that Black women have always stood at the moral and spiritual center of our communities. They have raised families while carrying the burdens of injustice. They have organized movements, educated children, fed neighborhoods, led ministries, built institutions, marched for voting rights, and prayed communities through grief and uncertainty. Even when overlooked, underestimated, or exhausted, they continued to rise.

Proverbs 31:25 declares, “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.” That scripture resonated throughout the event as women gathered not only to celebrate style, but to affirm one another’s strength, dignity, and courage in a time marked by political uncertainty, economic instability, attacks on educational opportunity, and ongoing assaults on truth and justice.

Special thanks are extended to Ricky Taylor and John Robinson for welcoming our guests, Dai Boi Entertainment for creating an uplifting atmosphere, the Lundy Sisters for preparing an outstanding brunch, Lesa Brown for capturing memorable moments throughout the event, Stacy Taylor and Carrie Hicks for sharing their musical gifts, Kristen’s Kreations for the beautiful gift baskets, and The Event Center for graciously hosting this special occasion.

We also celebrate the generosity of every sponsor, volunteer, ministry partner, and attendee whose support made this gathering possible.

Importantly, proceeds from the event will support the Magnolia Baptist Church Scholars Fund, an initiative committed to investing in the next generation through educational scholarships. Over the next month, Magnolia will distribute $3,500 in scholarships as part of our broader commitment to distribute $10,000 annually to deserving students.

In a season when opportunities are shrinking and support systems are being reduced, the Black Church must continue to rise as a place of hope, investment, advocacy, and transformation. Our ancestors created pathways where none existed. Through faith, vision, and collective responsibility, we remain committed to doing the same.

The Singing Hat Event was a reminder that elegance can be resistance, joy can be healing, and gathering together can still become holy work.

When Black women rise, communities rise with them.
