Our Scholars Fund

Investing in Our Youth. Honoring Our Legacy. Building Our Future.

At Magnolia, we believe that investing in our young people is not just charity—it is a sacred calling. It is an act of faith in what God can do through them, an act of justice in a world that too often denies them access, and an act of love for a future we may never see but are still called to shape.

The Scholars Fund is one of the ways we answer that call. It provides vital financial assistance to graduating seniors from Bulloch County who are pursuing higher education. With your support, we help turn caps and gowns into careers, and dreams into destiny.

But this isn’t just about scholarships—it’s about legacy.

Long before today’s students walked across stages with diplomas in hand, our ancestors walked dirt roads in search of freedom and literacy. They built schools out of brush arbors and faith, scraped together coins to send one child north for “a better chance,” and dared to believe that the Black mind, fully freed, could change the world.

Right here in Statesboro, Professor William James—an educator, civic leader, and founding force of Black advancement—dedicated his life to that very belief. He helped establish William James High School, an institution that became a beacon of excellence for Black students during segregation. His legacy reminds us that education was, and still is, a revolutionary act.

We stand in that tradition.

At Magnolia, we are not just handing out scholarships. We are building bridges between generations, closing the opportunity gap, and ensuring that the sacrifices of those who came before us were not in vain. Every gift to the Scholars Fund is a seed in sacred soil—nurturing Black excellence, honoring our past, and fortifying our future.
